Psychotherapy in Bolton or online for meaningful, lasting change

I'm Susie Hewitt — a Transactional Analysis psychotherapist, trainer, and supervisor with over 17 years of clinical experience. I'm a Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst (TSTA-P), and am UKCP Reg., BACP Snr Accred., and UKATA; EATA and ITAA Registered.
I'm also the Founder and Director of the Psychotherapy Institute, where I train the next generation of psychotherapists in Transactional Analysis with a systemic lens — work that keeps me close to both the theory and the human reality of what happens in the therapy room.
My practice is grounded in the belief that most of what brings people to therapy — anxiety, disconnection, stuck relationships, a sense of not quite knowing who we are — has its roots in the push and pull between two very human needs: the need to belong, and the need to become fully ourselves. I draw on Transactional Analysis alongside attachment theory and systemic thinking to help clients understand the patterns they've inherited, the roles they've learned to play, and the space they have to choose something different.
I work with individuals and groups, bringing the same rigour I ask of my trainees to my own clinical practice: thoughtful, evidence-informed, and honest about the fact that real change takes real time.
If you're looking for a therapist who takes both the science and the humanity of this work seriously, I'd be glad to hear from you.

Individual, couples or family psychotherapy in Bolton or online
Clients choose to work with me because they want a therapist who brings both depth of training and genuine presence to the room. I've been in practice since 2009 and with so many years of clinical experience and ongoing work as a psychotherapy trainer and supervisor, I bring a rigorous, well-grounded understanding of what actually helps people change — not just theory, but tested clinical judgement. In our sessions, you can expect a space that is honest, unhurried, and free of pretence: I won't rush you toward answers, and I won't shy away from the harder material either. My aim is to help you understand the patterns you've inherited and the roles you've learned to play, so you leave not just feeling supported, but genuinely more able to choose your own way forward.
